About

Art Against AIDS, organised by Action For AIDS (AfA), started out as an art competition to raise awareness and prevention of HIV/AIDS. In 2006, Art Against AIDS went digital! Participants submitted Photography, Video, Animation and Graphic/Poster Designs. Check out the creative entries and past prize-winners by clicking here.
This year, Art Against AIDS 09 (AAA09) – Living with AIDS, has evolved into a photography project. The first of its kind in Singapore, the project involves professional photographers who will train and mentor people living with HIV/AIDS, their loved ones and care-givers on the basics of digital photography, culminating in a public exhibition in Nov 09. Through this project, AfA hopes to raise awareness of the seldom talked-about experience of people living with HIV/AIDS.
The project kicked off on 18 Apr 09 with the first in a series of six basic photography workshops for approximately 20 participants. Interested participants will then continue on a two-month mentorship programme with the photographers to develop their photo essays for the public exhibition in Nov 09.
We are eternally grateful to
for the sponsorship of camera equipment for the course participants. We are still seeking venue sponsors for the exhibition in Nov/Dec 09, so if you have something in mind, let us know!
This blog has been set up for the organisers, photographers and participants to share our personal growth in the course of this project… so join us on this journey of discovery!
